Varma is produced by Glófi ehf, the largest knitwear producers in Iceland. Glófi is a leading manufacturer and distributer of Icelandic woollen goods both within Iceland and abroad. Its main product is Varma – the Warmth of Iceland, along with the design line Blik. Glófi is jointly owed by Logi A. Guðjónsson, Managing Director, and Páll Kr. Pálsson, Chairman of the Board.

 

Varma of Iceland – Pure Icelandic Wool

The Varma brand includes socks, mittens, hats, headbands, gloves, scarves and shawls, as well as a selection of sweaters, cardigans and capes made from high quality Icelandic wool.  Our product lines range from traditional styles and patterns following the latest fashion trends. Varma’s new designer knitwear line, Blik, is designed by knitwear designer Laufey Jónasdóttir.

 

Sheepskin Shearling & Alafoss Blankets

We also offer a selection of traditional Icelandic sheepskin shearling products including hats, mittens and slippers.  Glófi manages the sale and marketing of the Alafoss brand, including Alafoss Interior wool blankets and throws made by Ístex in Mosfellsbær.

Glófi aims to produce high quality products from raw materials in a cost efficient and environmentally safe way. Icelandic wool is the main component of our products. We focus on maintaining a solid, efficient operation following sound manufacturing principles. The company also has an extensive sales and marketing network.

 

Extensive Sales Network

Our products are sold and distributed through an extensive sales network that includes designers and speciality shops in Iceland and abroad, all of the major retail outlets in Iceland as well as tourist and souvenir stores. With over 200 sales agents around the world, Glófi has managed to secure a strong position for the Varma brand on the market.

 

Exports

Varma gets around and now we have added Blik to our export range. Out wholesale distribution network covers Scandinavia, Europe and North America.
